𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐄 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐣𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐋𝐂𝐃𝐀 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
One year after assuming office as the Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Badagry, Lagos State, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon has continued to demonstrate his commitment to grassroots development through the implementation of people-oriented projects and programmes under his RESHAPE Agenda.
From healthcare and infrastructure to education, security, youth development, women empowerment and social welfare, the administration has recorded significant milestones aimed at improving the quality of life of residents across the council area.
𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲
Healthcare has emerged as one of the administration’s most notable achievements, with deliberate investments in upgrading primary healthcare facilities and expanding access to medical services.
One of the landmark interventions was the renovation and remodelling of the Yeponawa Primary Health Centre. The facility was originally constructed by the former Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, who now serves as the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government. Despite its completion, the health centre was never put into operation and was left abandoned for years, gradually becoming overgrown with bushes.
Recognising the need to make the facility beneficial to residents, the Kumayon administration rehabilitated and remodelled the health centre, transforming it into a functional medical facility that now serves Yeponawa and neighbouring communities.
The administration also commenced the remodelling and reconstruction of the Morogbo Primary Health Centre, a project currently ongoing.
To improve service delivery at the Ilado Primary Health Centre, the council installed a solar power system to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and procured modern dental equipment to establish a dental unit, expanding healthcare services available to residents.
In addition, the administration sponsored free registration under the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) for 500 elderly residents and vulnerable women, providing them with access to affordable healthcare services.
𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
Infrastructure development has remained a major priority of the administration.
Work is progressing on the reconstruction and expansion of the Mowo-Agemowo Road, with the first phase covering 600 metres already underway to improve transportation and boost socio-economic activities.
The administration constructed the Imeke Town Hall to promote community engagement and social activities, while the Aradagun Town Hall project is nearing completion.
To improve public infrastructure, solar-powered electricity was installed at the administrative building of the council secretariat in Iworo, while solar street lights were provided in Mowo to improve security and enhance nighttime visibility.
The council also renovated the staff canteen at the secretariat, upgraded the Executive Chairman’s Office, renovated the Chieftaincy Chamber and procured office furniture for cabinet members to create a more conducive working environment.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀
Recognising that security is fundamental to development, the administration renovated the Mowo Police Station to improve operational efficiency.
It also procured and equipped a vehicle for the Joint Task Force to strengthen local security operations and enhance rapid response across communities.
To preserve public heritage and prevent encroachment, perimeter fences were constructed around the Iworo and Ilogbo cemeteries, ensuring improved security and proper management of the facilities.
The administration equally purchased a vehicle for members of the legislative arm to support effective oversight and legislative functions.
𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹
Education has remained a key component of the RESHAPE Agenda.
The administration distributed more than 250 GCE examination forms to students and provided free JAMB forms to over 200 admission seekers to support their educational aspirations.
In a demonstration of its commitment to inclusive education, the council donated a laptop to a student living with a disability to support learning and digital access.
To improve access to identity registration services, the administration also procured National Identification Number (NIN) registration equipment, leading to the establishment of an additional enrolment centre within Olorunda LCDA.
𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲
The Kumayon administration has implemented several programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing poverty.
Cash grants of ₦100,000 were provided to vulnerable residents and widows, while food palliatives were distributed to vulnerable households across the council area.
Business owners also benefited from business support grants designed to strengthen small enterprises and encourage economic growth.
Artisans, unemployed youths, women and widows received working tools, equipment and start-up support to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
The administration further organised a women empowerment programme featuring a symposium, food distribution, cash grants and the donation of start-up materials to vulnerable women.
𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
The administration has continued to promote youth development through sports and community initiatives.
The Ajose Peter Kumayon Youth Football Championship was introduced to discover young talents, encourage healthy competition and foster unity among youths across the LCDA.
The council also facilitated pilgrimage opportunities for eligible participants as part of efforts to promote moral and spiritual development within the community.
𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗘 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮
Beyond physical infrastructure, the administration has focused on strengthening governance and service delivery through strategic investments in healthcare, education, security, social welfare and economic empowerment.
The numerous completed and ongoing projects executed within the last one year reflect Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon’s determination to translate the vision of the RESHAPE Agenda into tangible benefits for the people of Olorunda LCDA.
With ongoing projects such as the Morogbo Primary Health Centre, the Aradagun Town Hall and the Mowo-Agemowo Road reconstruction steadily progressing, residents remain optimistic that the administration will continue to build on its achievements.
