Suspected bandits abducted no fewer than 10 worshippers, including the Imam in a mosque located in the Busque community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

Sources within the community said that the gunmen invaded the mosque on Thursday while worshippers were performing their early morning Subhi prayer.

According to the sources, the suspects have been molesting the people of the community for some time now.

They noted that the timely intervention of the security agents led by the troops of the Nigerian Army was able to curtail the activities of the suspects.

The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the attack on Friday.

The Command’s spokesman, Ahmed Rufai, said the police authorities were working with other security agencies to rescue the abducted victims.
