Bogota, Colombia – Three former champions, North Korea, United States of America (USA), and Germany, as well rookie Netherlands will battle for the two final slots at the ongoing 2024 FIFA uner-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
They will do battle on Wednesday in the Semi-Final as follows.
Three-time champions, USA, take on two-time winners, North Korea, while Japan, winners in 2016, meet the Netherlands, who have no title yet to their name.
To reach this stage, USA, winners of the inaugural competition in 2002, 2008 and 2012, defeated another three-time winners, Germany, in the quarter-final 3-1 on penalties after they tied 2-2 in regulation time. The Germans were winners in 2004, 2010 and 2014.
North Korea, winners in 2006 and 2016, beat Brazil 1-0 in the quarter-final. Brazil’s previous best showing was the bronze medal in 2006 and 2022.
To reach the semi-final, Japan beat defending champions, Spain 1-0 in extra time in the quarter-final.
Netherlands, on the other hand, reached the semi-final after beating hosts Colombia 3-0 on penalties after they tied 2-2 in regulation time.
