Paris, France – Only three African countries got their names on the medals table at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
They are South Africa (Gold), Tunisia (Silver)and Egypt (Bronze).
South Africa, with a gold medal in Swimming and bronze medals in Cycling and Rugby Seven, occupy the 12th position on the table with the three medals
The South African gold came from Tatjana Smith in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke.
Alan Hatherly took their bronze in the men’s cross country cycling while the other bronze was from the South African team in the men’s Rugby Seven.
Fares Ferjani earned Tunisia’s silver medal in the men’s Sabre Individual in Fencing to place 20th on the table along with Fiji, Kosovo, Mongolia and Poland.
The Egyptians, joint 26th on the table with Croatia, Spain, Hungary, India, Ireland, Mexico, Switzerland, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine, won its bronze in the
Men’s Épée Individual in Fencing from Mohamed Elsayed.
