In a significant step toward the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026, Nigeria’s Under-16 female basketball team has received an official invitation to participate in a preparatory tournament in Dakar.

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) proudly announced that the invitation comes from the Local Organizing Committee of the Youth Olympic Games.

A statement released by Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of NOC state, explained that this tournament will provide invaluable experience and exposure to the young athletes, equipping them with insights into the standards and expectations they will face during the Games.

The NOC will cover all expenses related to the tournament, ensuring that our talented athletes can focus on their preparation.

The event, aptly titled the “Festival of Games,” is scheduled for November 6th to 10th, 2026, in Dakar. We extend our best wishes to the U16 basketball team as they embark on this exciting journey.

“We are confident that their participation in this tournament will bolster their skills and inspire them to shine at the Youth Olympic Games. For media inquiries, please contact,” he added.
