De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF), a global charitable organisation, has awarded N1 million educational scholarships each to 25 undergraduates from the five Southeast states to support their university education.

The beneficiaries, who were among top performers in the 2025 examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), have secured admission into various universities across Nigeria.

The scholarship recipients emerged from a rigorous selection exercise involving over 1,000 applicants, coordinated by Best Brain Contest, organisers of academic competitions and scholarship assessments.

Cheques were presented to the beneficiaries on Thursday at an award ceremony held in Awka, attended by parents, members and associates of the philanthropic organisation.

Speaking at the event, DIPF President, Darlington Nwabunike, said the initiative reflected the group’s belief that investment in quality education remains crucial to rebuilding the region’s human capital for sustainable growth.

Nwabunike disclosed that the organisation currently supports 1,012 scholarship beneficiaries across the Southeast and revealed plans to expand the programme nationwide.

He added that DIPF was also working to strengthen teachers’ capacity through professional development and exposure to modern teaching technologies.

He urged political and social leaders in the region to prioritise quality education as a pathway to securing the future of young people.

Also speaking, Chairman of the group’s Education Committee, Chikezie Okonkwo, said beneficiaries earned the award through discipline, resilience and outstanding academic performance, coupled with a transparent selection process.

Okonkwo reminded the students that the scholarship came with responsibility and urged them to uphold values of excellence, discipline and integrity.

He also commended Best Brain Contest for ensuring professionalism and transparency in the examination and selection processes.

Earlier, Chief Executive Officer of Best Brain Contest, Frank Igbojindu, described DIPF as exemplary in supporting young people through educational, health and community development initiatives.

He encouraged affluent individuals in the Southeast to emulate the organisation by investing in education and rewarding merit.

One of the beneficiaries, Lifted Emefiena, who scored 298 in JAMB and gained admission to study Medicine and Surgery at Abia State University, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to excel academically.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of scholarship cheques and award certificates to the beneficiaries and their parents.
