The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State says nine passengers were killed in an auto crash in Inisa, along the Ikirun-Offa Expressway of the state on Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for the NSCDC in the state, Mr Kehinde Adeleke, said the accident involved a Mitsubishi truck carrying bags of beans and some passengers coming from Niger State to Edo State.

According to him, the truck driver was said to have lost control, which led to the vehicle veering into the bush.

“9 out of the 12 commuters died on the spot, while the remaining three sustained injuries,” he said.

Adeleke said the injured passengers had been moved to Orotunde Hospital in Ikirun, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

“Bags of beans and the vehicle involved have been evacuated to Inisa Police Divisional Headquarters,” she added.
