Sunday Igboho, an advocate for the Yoruba nation, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to suspected herders responsible for killing farmers in the Southwest to leave the region.

Despite this ultimatum, Igboho emphasized that the region will not resort to taking matters into their own hands against the herders.

In a statement, Igboho stated, “While we advocate for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, regardless of tribe, religion, and political differences, we are giving herders who are killing our people in any part of the South West a seven-day notice to vacate our communities.”

“This notice is of utmost importance. We do not intend to resort to violence, but they must leave,” Igboho added.

He further expressed confidence in the federal government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to guarantee the safety of lives and properties, particularly for farmers in Nigeria.

Igboho stressed, “We cannot tolerate any actions that would further escalate the prices of food and other essential commodities.

”We urge the governors of Oyo and Ogun States to urgently deploy more security personnel and resources to areas where clashes between herders and farmers have intensified, in order to maintain peace.”

“Nigerians, especially farmers in agricultural settlements, need increased security presence so that they can engage in small or large-scale farming activities for substantial food production. These killings must stop now for the benefit of all,” Igboho concluded.
