Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards (The Awards) was created to reward professionalism
and excellence in journalism.

The awards are presented at the annual Gala hosted to celebrate the media for collaborating with Nestlé during the year. The Awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on Friday, December 8, 2023.

The award highlights stories around Nestlé’s focus areas including nutrition, building thriving communities and protecting the planet, published in mainstream print and online media, as well as in broadcast media.

Scope of Awards

Participation is open to mainstream, online and broadcast journalists based in Nigeria. These may be individuals or organizations. Qualifying stories must cover Nestlé stories on any of the following areas: Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Access to Water, Improving Household Incomes, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Finance, Building Thriving Communities, Agriculture, Nutrition Education for Children and WASH.

Categories:

Journalists can enter their stories under any of the following categories:

  • Best story on nutrition and affordable food solutions: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her activities on nutrition and affordable food
    solutions. Stories must have been published from January 1, 2023, to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.
  • Best story on environmental sustainability: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her activities on environmental sustainability. Stories must have been published from January 1, 2023 to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.
  • Best story on youth empowerment and development: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her activities on youth empowerment and development. Stories must have been published from January 1, 2023, to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.
  • Best story on women empowerment: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her activities on women’s empowerment. Stories must have been
    published from January 1, 2023, to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.
  • Best story on community development: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her activities on community development. Stories must have been

  • Best Story on Finance: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her financial results and stock market activities. Stories must have been published from January 1, 2023 to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for

  • Best Story on Agriculture: Stories published by the journalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company relating to her activities on Agriculture. Stories must have been published from January 1, 2023, to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.
  • Best Photojournalist Award: A photograph or series of photographs published by the photojournalist on either mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on any activity of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a global company. The photograph or series of photographs should relate to any of Nestlé’s focus areas – Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Thriving Communities and Access to Water, Finance, and Sanitation Facilities.

    Photos and captions must have been published from January 1, 2023, to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.

    TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    The following terms and conditions apply exclusively to the Nestlé Nigeria Media
    Awards 2023.

    Mode of Entry

    Entry materials should be uploaded on the link below on or before the close of
    business on November 3, 2023. Materials required include the links to the published
    works, a one-page profile of the individual/organization, and one-page background
    information on the entry.

    How to Enter
  • All entry materials must be works published in mainstream, online or broadcast platforms in Nigeria on the activities of NestlĂ© Nigeria PLC or NestlĂ© as a company from January 1, 2023, to November 3, 2023 – the closing date of the entries for The Awards.
  • Supporting documents required for entries should include links to the published works, a minimum of 100 words profile of the individual/organization, and a 100-word vivid description of the entry.
  • A work can only be entered in one category. A series of photographs on one subject with captions (news or features) will be counted as one entry.
  • You can only enter one story/published work per category. Multiple entries in the same category by the same individual may lead to disqualification.

    Submitting a winning Entry:
  • Entries must be submitted strictly by clicking on the link https://forms.office.com/e/xrdmX7mgyk and completing the form provided. Please ensure to include a minimum of 100 words profile of yourself in the space provided.
  • You must also provide a vivid description of your entry.
  • Each entry must be submitted separately in the case that the applicant has more than one entry which must not be in the same category.
  • The number of stories or photographs published during the year under review and submitted in the series (one entry) will be an advantage to the entry by the individual/organization.
  • Entries will be judged for accuracy, balance, depth and the inclusion of Nestlé’s focus areas Affordable Nutrition, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Thriving Communities and Access to Water, Finance, and Sanitation Facilities.

    Prizes
  • There will be three winners from each category.
  • First Position – A Tablet PC, NestlĂ© branded Notepad with pen and a recognition plaque.
  • First Runner-up – A Samsung Tablet, NestlĂ© branded Notepad with pen and a recognition plaque.
  • Second Runner-up – A Samsung Phone, NestlĂ© branded Notepad with pen and a recognition plaque.

    The winners and each of the finalists will get a box of Nestlé products.
