Special envoy Finkenauer’s travel to Australia and New Zealand

U.S. Department of State Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues Abby Finkenauer will travel to Australia and New Zealand November 8-17, 2023.

Special Envoy Finkenauer’s travel underscores the United States’ commitment to youth and the importance of partnering with them to develop innovative solutions to address global challenges.

During the trip, the Special Envoy will provide key remarks, facilitate discussions, and engage with emerging leaders and advocates in the Pacific region.

In Perth and Melbourne, Australia, Special Envoy Finkenauer will engage with youth across a variety of sectors, focusing on civic participation, environment and sustainability, diaspora community engagement, women’s health, and social empowerment.

In Auckland, New Zealand, Special Envoy Finkenauer will attend the 10th anniversary of the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) program.

YPL is the U.S. Government’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in the Pacific.

The YPL network includes young leaders from 24 nations across the Pacific Island region and through a growing number of programs and events, YPL enhances linkages between those emerging leaders and the United States.
