In a strategic move to bolster accounting education in the Epe Division of Lagos State, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has officially approved Augustine University as an Examination Center for the Accounting Technicians Scheme West Africa (ATSWA).
According to the correspondence, the approval followed the endorsement of the University by ICAN Epe and District Society to host ATSWA examination.
As stated in the correspondence, the decision to entrust Augustine University with this responsibility is based on the Institution’s impressive academic pedigree and its well-equipped facilities, which align seamlessly with the high standards upheld by ICAN.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Odetunde expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are honored to be recognized by ICAN as an official Examination Center for ATSWA in the Epe Division. This accreditation underscores our commitment to academic excellence and aligns with our mission to provide quality education that meets industry standards.”
Mrs. H.M Deile, the Chairman of ICAN Epe & District Society, emphasized the importance of the new examination center in advancing accounting professional certification. “This partnership with Augustine University is part of our ongoing efforts to make quality accounting education more accessible.”
In welcoming the ICAN Chairman and her team who formally presented the approval letter on Friday, 12th January, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odetunde was joined by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. (Professor.) Anthony Akinwale, OP, the Registrar, Mrs. Margaret Aziba, Acting Bursar, Mrs. Mary Ajibulu, Head of Department, Accounting, Dr. Theophilus Aguguom, a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting, Mr. Hashim Akintona, and Mrs. Ogechi Morakinyo, an Accountant in the Bursary Department.
