Paris, France – It’s been a tale of woes for Nigeria at the ongoing 2924 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

In Boxing – Men/Women – Cynthia Ogunsemilore was suspended after testing positive for a banned substance ahead of her opening fight in women’s boxing.

African Champion, Olaitan Olaore, was been defeated (5-0) in the men’s 92kg.

In Table Tennis – Men/Women’s Singles,
Nigerian and African Champion, Quadri Aruna (lost 4-3) and Omotayo Olajide (lost 4-1) in the men’s first round

Offiong Edem (lost 4-0) and Fatimo Bello (lost 4-0) in the Women’s Singles category after first round

In Badminton – Men’s Singles –
Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori bowed out after losing his first and second Group matches.

In Football – Women –
The Super Falcons ended their Olympics campaign with O point after losing all their 3 group-stage matches.

In Swimming Men/Women’s 50m –
Tobi Sijuade did not advance to the next round of the Men’s 50m Freestyle as his 3rd position in a time of 23.34 seconds wasn’t enough for him to progress to the semifinals.

The 16-year-old Nigerian-Chinese born swimmer, Adaku Nwandu did not qualify in the Women’s 50m Swimming freestyle final. She came second in her heat with a time of 26.62seconds, but it was not one of the 16 fastest times that made the final.

In Athletics – Men/Women’s 100m
Godson Oghenebrume is not in the line up for the Men’s 100m heats despite the fact that he qualified for the 100m.

Favour Ofili was ruled out of the women’s 100m because the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) failed to register her name, despite the fact that she qualified.

Godbless missed out of the women’s 100m after finishing 6th in her Heat in a time of 11.33 seconds

Rosemary Chukwuma finished in 8th position in the second women’s 200m semifinal 2 in a time of 11.39 seconds.

In High Jump – Women –
Temitope Adeshina did not progress to the final after finishing 9th in Group B with a jump of 1.88 metres.

In the Mixed 4X400m relay, Nigeria’s quartet of Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Ifeanyi Ojeli and Patience Okon-George finished 4th in Heat 2. Although they set a new Nigerian record with a time of 3:11.99, it was not enough to see them to the final.

In the women’s Discus throw, the Nigerian trio of Ashley Anumba, Chioma Onyekwere and Obiageri Amaechi exited in the first round.

In Shot Put – Men, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi finished in 5th position with a throw of 21.42m in the final.
