Lagos State House of Assembly has pledged commitment to supporting Lagos Bus Services Ltd. (LBSL) to expand capacity and enhance efficiency.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Mr Adedeji Temitope, made the pledge during the committee’s oversight visit to LBSL Headquarters, Ilupeju.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Afolabi Olawale, Public Affairs Officer, LBSL, on Wednesday.

Adedeji emphasised the need for robust policy support to empower LBSL to enable the company to meet the evolving demands of Lagos State public transport network.

“Our visit today is aimed at understanding the challenges faced by LBSL and identifying areas where the house can provide legislative assistance.

“We believe that with the right support, LBSL can continue to deliver safe, efficient and globally-competitive mobility solutions,” he said.

The chairman commended LBSL for high performance, saying that the company had consistently provided reliable transport services, particularly during global energy crisis.

He said that the energy crisis highlighted the importance of public transport as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative for Lagos residents.

In response, Mr Idowu Oguntona, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LBSL, expressed gratitude to the committee for support.

He assured the committee that LBSL would continue to work closely with the assembly to ensure that Lagos residents enjoyed a world-class public transport system.

Oguntona re-affirmed LBSL’s commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that would further transform Lagos transport landscape.

The Lagos State House of Assembly’s support marks a significant step toward achieving greater efficiency and increased capacity within the state’s public transport system.
