Afikpo, Nigeria – Afikpo Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi has approved the relocation of business outlets from all parts of the council to centralised areas.

The relocation is contained in a statement signed by the Council ‘s Secretary, Mrs Priscilla Idam, on Monday.

Idam, in the statement, said that the move followed the determination to give Afikpo a look befitting its status as Ebonyi’s second most developed town.

The statement indicated that the Chairman of Afikpo LGA, Engr Timothy Nwachi, approved the relocation after due consultation with relevant stakeholders of the council.

“All second-hand clothes dealers were to relocate to the Afikpo City plaza on or before Monday, Nov. 18, 2024.

“Artisans, motor parts dealers, building material dealers, scrap dealers and rice mills are to relocate to near Bishop Okoro regional market on or before Saturday, Nov. 30.

“Electrical and electronics dealers are also to relocate to the Afikpo modern market with Saturday, Nov 30, as deadline.”

The statement directed affected business owners to comply with the directive.

“Let us join hands with Timothy Nwachi to neatly decongest the town and make it a beauty to behold.”

The council’s legislative arm had earlier passed a resolution, approving the relocation of the business outlets.
