6,708,451 voters collected PVC in Lagos – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State says a total of 6,708,451 voters collected the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) out of the 7,637,402 voters that registered in the state.

Mrs Adenike Tadese, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Lagos State disclosed on Tuesday in Lagos that the figure represented 87.87 per cent.

According to Tadese, 928,951, which were not collected as of the Feb. 5 deadline, represented over 12.16 per cent.

She said that only 106,311 of 1,067,111 of the newly printed PVCs from the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise were not collected.

According to her, 960,800 out of 1,067,111 newly printed PVCs were collected by their owners in the state as at Feb. 5 deadline.

She said that the figure showed that 90.04 per cent of the new PVCs were collected while only 9.96 per cent were not collected.

On the old PVCs, she said that the commission received a total of 6, 570,291 PVCs out of which 5, 747,651 were collected, remaining 822,640 uncollected in the state as at the deadline.

The nationwide collection of PVCs ended on Sunday.

INEC had earlier announced an extension of PVC collection which was initially scheduled to end on Jan. 29, 2023, to Feb. 5.

INEC had fixed Feb.25 for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections and March 11 for the Governorship and State House Assembly Elections.
