The Police on Monday arraigned a 43-year-old security guard, Kaza Samuel, in a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly conspiring and stealing CCTV cameras at his work place.

The police charged Samuel of New Kuchigoro Games Village, Abuja, with criminal conspiracy and theft by servant.

The prosecution counsel, Stanley Nwafoaku, told the court that on Feb.6 at about 9:20 p.m., the complainant, Mr Leo Ijeoma of Ebitu Ukiwe Street Jabi, Abuja, reported the matter at Life Camp Police Station.

Nwafoaku alleged that the complainant received a call from the information technology officer of the company located at Idu industrial yard, Abuja, that some of the CCTV cameras were missing.

He alleged that the defendant and one Lucky Isaac now at large, both employed to watch over the cameras were captured by another CCTV footage which showed them removing the cameras.

Nwafoaku told the court that the values of the cameras were yet unknown, saying during police investigation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.

The prosecution counsel said the offence contravened sections 79 and 289 of the penal code law.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The defence counsel, Cajetan Nnaemeka made a bail application for the defendant in the most liberal terms, promising that the defendant will not jump bail if granted.

The prosecution counsel however, did not object to the bail application made by the defence counsel.

The Judge, Muhammed Wakili admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2 million and one surety in like sum.

Wakili ordered that the surety must provide a BVN print out, recent passport photograph and a valid identification card, which must be verified by the court registrar.

The Judge adjourned the matter until April 18, for hearing.
