Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has authorized the payment of salaries, pensions, and palliatives for the month of March.

in a statement by the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the move is aimed at alleviating the financial burdens of public servants in the state.

He said that the governor also approved promotions for service personnel who were due for promotion since 2023.

According to him, this decision comes amidst the delay in the release of the state’s allocation from the Federation account.

He added that the Head of Service, Mr. Samuel Ayanleye Aina, confirmed the governor’s directive, stating that the approval encompasses all categories of state and local government employees, including those in tertiary institutions.

He assured that the necessary arrangements have been made to expedite the disbursement of payments, including the settlement of outstanding half salaries for retirees under the contributory pension scheme.

“I can confirm that Mr. Governor has approved the March salaries, pension, and palliative wage awards, including the usual payment of the outstanding half salary for retirees yet to obtain their bonds.”

“This preemptive measure by the governor demonstrates his commitment to meeting the needs of our people,” Aina said.

Governor Adeleke, who has been engaging with interfaith leaders at the Government House, emphasized that the early payment is intended to ease the financial burdens of workers, particularly ahead of the Easter period.

He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the workforce.

“As I extend my best wishes to Muslim and Christian faithful during this blessed fasting season, the early payment serves as a gesture of support for our hardworking employees,” Adeleke said.

The timely approval of salaries, pensions, and palliatives reflects Adeleke’s proactive approach to governance and his dedication to ensuring the well-being of the people of the state.
