President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, saying the victory shows that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress administration.

The President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, on August 16, 2026, said Adeleke’s victory confirmed the confidence Osun voters have in his leadership.

The President said he called the governor earlier on Sunday to congratulate him on his election victory.

“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years,” Tinubu said.

The President, however, urged Adeleke to unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress.

He said the governor should work with all residents, regardless of their political choices during the election.

President praised the courage and discipline of the other contestants in the election.

He said their participation strengthened Nigeria’s democratic culture.

“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” the President said.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election.

He said the process produced a clear winner.
