The Vice Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi, Mrs Chinyere Egwu has assured that the council’s new leadership under Engr. Timothy Nwachi, would deliver on electoral promises.
Egwu made the pledge at the council headquarters after officially resuming duties, pledging to support the chairman in delivering
democratic dividends to the people.
The vice chairman noted that efforts would be intensified to step Governor. Francis Nwifuru’s peoples charter of needs mantra down to the grassroots.
“The new leadership will evolve people–oreinted policies and programmes to achieve set goals.
“The council witnessed rapid development under the chairman in his first tenure and I am honoured to contribute in its continued economic and infrastructural transoformation.
“Our electoral victory shows the people’s belief in the chairman’s abilities to sustain his first tenure’s endearing legacies,”.
The vice chairman thanked Governor Francis Nwufuru and his Wife for believing in the abilities of women to contribute positively towards societal change and development.
“The Nwifuru’s administration has proven that women make monumental contributions
towards state and national development and this should motivate us more.
“I thank the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state for their belief in women’s abilities and stakeholders of Afikpo LGA for their support to the council’s leadership
“I equally thank my predecessor for her contributions towards the development of the council and pledge to consolidate on her achievements,”.
The immediate Past Vice Chairman of the council, Mrs Josephine Nwogo congratulated Egwu on her emergence and prayed for God’s wisdom upon her.
“I also pray for sound health and divine guidance as you assist the chairman in steering the affairs of the office.
“I thank Governor Francis Nwifuru for giving me the opportunity to serve and pledge my support to his administration even outside office,”.
The Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Apostle Uduma Agha, described Egwu’s emergence as a fitting reward for loyalty, competence and years of grassroots service.
Agha assured Egwu of the chairman’s full support, noting that a conducive working environment has already been provided to discharge her duties effectively.
Goodwill messages were delivered on the occasion by youths, past political appointees and other stakeholders of the area.
Rev. Fr Patrick Ufiem, Pariah Priest of St. Brigid Catholic Church, Ozizza, committed the new administration into God’s hands and prayed for the continued success of state’s administration.
