Mrs Margaret Ochalla, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos State, has praised FCID personnel for efforts at crime fighting nationwide.

Ochalla also urged the personnel to uphold integrity and professionalism.

She spoke at the end-of-year party and Christmas carol at the FCID, on Monday.

Ochalla described the occasion as a moment of reflection, appreciation and renewal of commitment as year 2025 drew to a close.

She expressed gratitude to officers across all ranks in FCID for effective service.

According to her, FCID officers have demonstrated courage, patience and resilience, ensuring that criminal activities are intelligently investigated and addressed in line with the law.

She said that efforts of the personnel had strengthened public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reinforced core values such as justice, accountability and the rule of law.

Ochalla highlighted the department’s adherence to due process, lawful investigative procedures and respect for human rights, saying that effective crime fighting did not require shortcuts or abuse of power.

She said that the approach had ensured that investigations remained credible, defensible in court and fair to all parties involved.

She listed areas where the FCID had made significant impacts to include financial crimes, fraud,

offences, threats to life, gender-based violence, kidnapping, cybercrime, and drug and and ammunition-related cases.

“The disruption of criminal networks, recovery of unlawfully-acquired assets, and prevention of potential breaches of public peace have contributed meaningfully to public safety across Lagos State and beyond,” she said.

Acknowledging sacrifices made by officers, Ochalla noted that many police personnel worked long hours away from their families and faced physical and emotional risks that often went unnoticed.

She assured FCID personnel that their resilience and commitment were deeply valued by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.

She wished them and their families good health, renewed strength and greater achievements in the coming year.

“Your hard work has not gone unnoticed and your contributions remain a cornerstone of our collective success,” she said.

Some senior police officers from other commands were also in attendance.

Two musicians, Sonny Neji and Zakky Azzay performed at the event.
