Cross River State does not merely need a change of leadership; it needs a new standard of leadership—one built on experience, competence, vision, inclusion and a genuine understanding of the people.
That is why Ambassador Nkoyo Esu Toyo deserves serious consideration in the 2027 governorship election.
Her public-service journey cuts across law, development advocacy, diplomacy and legislative representation. She served in the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Calabar/Odukpani Federal Constituency and previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti, as well as Permanent Representative to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
But leadership is not measured only by the offices a person has occupied. It is measured by the capacity to convert experience into results.
Ambassador Toyo has also been associated with work on social justice, women’s political and economic participation, governance and development. She co-founded Gender and Development Action (GADA), an organisation focused on expanding economic and political opportunities for women.
CROSS RIVER NEEDS A BUILDER
Our State is blessed with extraordinary human resources, agriculture, tourism, intellectual capacity and natural wealth.
The question is not whether Cross River has potential.
The question is whether we can build the leadership and institutions capable of converting that potential into measurable prosperity.
We need leadership that can:
- create an environment where small businesses can grow;
- invest seriously in human capital and education;
- strengthen healthcare delivery;
- create meaningful opportunities for young people;
- empower women and vulnerable communities;
- attract investment and build productive partnerships;
- strengthen accountability and responsible governance; and
- turn our abundant resources into opportunities for ordinary Cross Riverians.
Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo has presented governance, infrastructure, human capital development, economic growth and security as areas of focus in her previous gubernatorial campaign.
THE FUTURE WE SEEK
The future of Cross River cannot be built on slogans alone.
It requires ideas.
It requires competence.
It requires courage.
It requires inclusion.
And above all, it requires leadership that understands that government exists to improve the lives of the people.
From our businesses and farms to our schools and hospitals; from our villages to our cities; from our young people to our elderly citizens—every Cross Riverian deserves a government that sees them, hears them and works for them.
The 2027 conversation should therefore be about more than personalities.
It should be about the Cross River we want to build.
A Cross River where talent is rewarded.
A Cross River where enterprise is supported.
A Cross River where education opens doors.
A Cross River where healthcare serves the people.
A Cross River where young people are participants in governance, not spectators.
A Cross River where every community has a stake in development.
Cross River State has the people.
Cross River State has the resources.
Cross River State has the potential.
What we need is leadership capable of connecting all three.
OUR ANSWER: AMBASSADOR NKOYO TOYO
The 2027 election presents an opportunity for Cross Riverians to examine the experience, ideas, record and vision of every candidate and decide what kind of leadership they want for the State.
For those who believe Cross River deserves strategic, inclusive and development-focused leadership, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo offers a vision worthy of serious consideration.
The future is not something we wait for.
The future is something we build.
