Anambra Gov’t congratulates Orakwe on victory as Union President General

The Anambra government has congratulated the people of Amanuke Community in Awka North Local Government Area for the successful conduct of their town union election on Jan. 31.

Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government, Community Affairs and Chieftaincy Matters conveyed the goodwill message in a letter of recognition to the Simon-Ikechukwu Orakwe leadership on its victory.

Orakwe contested against Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra Council.

The Commissioner said the Amanuke Development Union which was held on Jan. 31, 2026 at the Union Primary School Field was free, fair and credible.

“I hereby certify that the underlisted elected officers are the bonafide executive members recognised by Anambra State Government with effect from Jan. 31, 2026,” he said

The Commissioner listed the elected officers to include Simon-Ikechukwu Orakwe,President General; Godwin Nwandibe, Deputy President General; Okechukwu Agbata, Secretary General; Christopher Nwoye, Assistant Secretary General.

Others were, Francis Alagbuna, Treasurer; Uchechukwu Nnamezie,Financial Secretary; Obinna Nwankwo, Social Welfare Officer; Hyacinth Okafor, Public Relation Officer; Charles Nnanwube, Provost I and Chigozie Ekulide, Provost II.

Nwabunwanne said the tenure of the executive team was three years and would run from Jan. 31, 2026 Jan. 31, 2029.

“Accept my congratulations,” he said.
