APC’S RECKLESS, DISHONEST AND SHAMELESS PROPAGANDISTS, AND THE GULLIBLE WHO FEED ON A FALSEHOOD ANY DILIGENT NIGERIAN WOULD UNMASK

After Seun Okinbaloye’s programme, in which he interviewed Babachir Lawal, I took the pains to counter the claim that Atiku never condemned insurgency. Babachir, in his egocentric, big mouthed bluster, asked Seun Okinbaloye to confirm it. Okinbaloye said he could not verify it at the time. I wrote an article, which I titled THE SERVANT OF A BLOOD THREATENER WHO SAT IN SEUN OKINBALOYE’S STUDIO AND LIED ABOUT ATIKU AND THE DEAD, and I forwarded it to Seun Okinbaloye. Lazy, mendacious and intellectually bankrupt, they peddle a claim that any ordinary citizen, willing to spend ten minutes with the public record, would recognise at once as a fabrication, and this is the fallacy upon which the APC now jubilate.

THE RECORD, AS I WROTE IN MY ARTICLE YESTERDAY, THAT THEY HOPED YOU WOULD NOT READ. HERE IT IS AGAIN.

July 6, 2015 — Condemned attacks in Jos, Maiduguri, and Potiskum; called the perpetrators “blood-sucking vermin.”

January 11, 2019 — Campaign declared a plan for the total defeat of Boko Haram.

February 5, 2020 — Condemned the murder of CAN chairman Lawan Andimi; responded to President Buhari’s article.

April 2025 — Condemned the massacres in Plateau and Boko Haram attacks in Borno.

June 2025 — Condemned the Benue massacre.

September 7, 2025 — Condemned the slaughter of soldiers and civilians at Darajamal in Borno.

March 6, 2026 — Condemned the Ngoshe killings and abductions in Gwoza.

March 17, 2026 — Condemned the resurgent suicide bombings in Maiduguri.

May 28, 2026 — Condemned the mass abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo and Borno and the murder of a teacher.

Nine dated condemnations, and I could establish several more besides. Eleven years of unbroken consistency. Hold that against the silence of the men now lecturing the nation, and ask yourself who truly grieves for this country.

Atiku has not merely lamented. He has prescribed. He reminded the nation that Boko Haram was born in 2002, during the Obasanjo administration in which he served as Vice President, as a preaching sect, and that when its earliest militants took up arms they were confronted and contained by the security approach of that era. It was the blunders of later governments, above all the 2009 killing that martyred its founder and inflamed his followers, that allowed the sect to grow into the monster it became. Atiku offered that tested method to this government, and challenged them to use it. That is the distance between a statesman and a studio heckler.

THE ETHNOGRAPHER OF LIES

Which brings me to the man the APC now parades as an authority, Babachir Lawal. Reckless, dishonest and tribally intoxicated, he has appointed himself ethnographer in chief of Nigerian crime. By his sworn doctrine every kidnapper is a Fulani herdsman, every bandit a Kachalla, every act of evil a northern import.

And here lies the richest irony of all. Lawal is himself a son of Adamawa, a state that has buried more victims of insurgency than the studios he now performs in can count, indeed the very state that produced Atiku Abubakar. He knows, better than the men he plays to, that the bomb never pauses to ask your tribe before it detonates. Yet he stands before the nation and shrinks a vast and bleeding tragedy into a cheap tribal slur.

So put the prophet’s theory to the test against what the ground actually shows. In the forests of Ogun, security operatives recently paraded four arrested kidnappers. By the gospel according to Lawal, every last one of them must be a Fulani herdsman. So let the congregation hear their names. Kachalla Anayo Simeon. Kachalla Chukwuma Bartholomew. Kachalla Chibueze Ogah. Kachalla Ifeanyi Benjamin.

Behold the Fulani.

By some miracle staged between Sokoto and the pit, the Fulani nation has adopted into its lineage four sons answering to Anayo, Chukwuma, Chibueze and Ifeanyi, names so unmistakably Fulani that they could only have wandered in from the heart of the South East. Babachir Lawal has unveiled a tribe no census ever recorded. The Fulani of Nnewi. The Kachalla of Aba. Herdsmen whose flocks are not cattle but baptismal registers.

THE MIRACLE IS AN OLD ONE

My Ekiti has been turning out this strange new Fulani for years, and there is no guesswork left in any of it. The men are behind bars as I write. A former councillor in Ido Osi was convicted of kidnapping. Kachalla. A man in Ado Ekiti seized his own mother in law, an exploit no true herdsman has ever dared, and he trades his agbada today for prison khaki. Kachalla. A Yoruba car electrician in Ayedun buried the people he had abducted and is serving his term for it. Kachalla. In Ado once more, a wife plotted the kidnap of her own husband, a well known petrol station owner, and earned a conviction for her devotion. Kachalla in a wrapper. In Ilejemeje a council vice chairman and her companion arranged their own abduction and now keep prison company for the performance. Kachalla in office. And to crown the roll, a vulcaniser who cannot outrun a flat tyre. A thundering horseman of the apocalypse, mounted on crutches.

THE TRUTH THE ETHNOGRAPHERS CANNOT SURVIVE

Crime wears no tribal mark. The kidnapper is not a Fulani, not a Yoruba, not an Igbo. He is a criminal. And the moment we hang his sins on an entire people, we stop hunting the criminal and begin hunting our neighbours. That is not journalism. It is incitement dressed as analysis, and it has watered the soil of too many Nigerian graves.

To the gullible foot soldiers and the reckless propagandists of the APC, a simple instruction. Up your game. You have brought a manufactured tribe to a contest of facts, and in 2027 you will be beaten flat.
