Nigerian musician Asake has finally opened up about his bold new look, including his distinctive face tattoos.
Speaking to Billboard on the red carpet at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the 30-year-old artist explained that his appearance reflects his personal comfort and self-expression.
“This is how I feel now. I love to feel comfortable in myself, in the things that I feel are good for me, not even about anybody. I might wake up tomorrow, and you guys may not see any tattoo on my face,” Asake said.
The 67th Grammy Awards marked Asake’s first appearance at the prestigious event. He was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, which was ultimately won by fellow Nigerian artist Tems for her hit song Love Me Jeje.
When asked about his outfit for the evening, Asake described it as part of his “military era,” adding that he prefers to dress in a way that reflects his current mood and personal style.
There have also been rumors suggesting that Asake has parted ways with Olamide’s record label, YBNL, although no official confirmation has been made.
