Atiku Abubakar wins ADC Presidential ticket

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar defeated Rotimi Amaechi and Hayatudeen to secure the ADC presidential ticket after polling 1,855,787 votes in the party’s primary election.

Atiku dominated the contest from the early stages of counting. Consequently, he finished far ahead of his closest rival, Amaechi, who secured 509,397 votes.

Meanwhile, Hayatudeen polled 180,903 votes to finish third in the keenly contested exercise. The election recorded a total of 2,546,457 votes cast.

Furthermore, the party confirmed that total membership eligible for the election stood at 3,113,599.

Final Results Announced

The final results released by the party showed a wide margin between Atiku and the other contenders. Consequently, the outcome strengthened Atiku’s position ahead of the next phase of political campaigns.

  • Atiku — 1,855,787
  • Amaechi — 509,397
  • Hayatudeen — 180,903

Total votes cast: 2,546,457

Total party membership: 3,113,599
