Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide Nigerians with a full explanation regarding an alleged breach of its voter registration database.

Atiku expressed concern over reports that sensitive voter information may have been accessed and exposed, warning that any compromise of electoral data could weaken public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.

According to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ,Nigerians deserve clear answers on how information from a restricted electoral platform reportedly found its way into the public domain and whether proper safeguards were followed in protecting the integrity of the voter database.

The former Vice President stressed that transparency and accountability are essential to maintaining trust in electoral institutions, especially as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.

Atiku Abubakar also urged INEC to publish the outcome of its investigation and reassure citizens that the nation’s electoral systems remain secure, impartial, and free from political interference.

Atiku Abubakar further welcomed ongoing investigations into the matter, emphasizing that no individual, regardless of political status or influence, should be above scrutiny when issues affecting electoral integrity arise.

The development has sparked fresh debate among political stakeholders and observers, with many calling for greater transparency and stronger protection of electoral data.

As of the time of this report, INEC has continued efforts to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will continue to monitor the situation and provide credible and verified updates as events unfold.
