Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have abducted the wife of a pastor and her three children along the Maiduguri-Damasak road in Borno State.

Abduction Near Kareto Village

The incident happened around 12 noon on Saturday near Kareto village in Mobbar Local Government Area.

Sources in the community said the victims were travelling to Damasak, where Pastor Moses Guguma heads a COCIN Church. Damasak lies in Northern Borno Senatorial District, about 156 kilometres from Maiduguri, and has witnessed repeated insurgent attacks over the years.

According to a source who requested anonymity, the terrorists stopped a commercial vehicle carrying the family.

“The terrorists intercepted the commercial vehicle close to Kareto village and asked the pastor’s wife, along with her three children, to disembark,” the source said.

However, the attackers allowed other passengers to continue their journey. They then took the pastor’s family into the bush and disappeared.

Family Awaits Their Return

Meanwhile, another source close to the family said the victims may have been singled out because of their religious identity.

The source disclosed that the pastor’s wife had only recently left a hospital in Maiduguri and was still recovering when the abduction occurred.

Furthermore, the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.

In response to the incident, family members and associates have continued to pray for their safe return.

“As at now, we are holding a special prayer to God for the safe return of the victims,” the source said.

Security Agencies Yet to Speak

Meanwhile, security forces have not released an official statement on the abduction.

Consequently, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the kidnappers have not made any demands.
