A new ADC faction led by Don Norman Obinna has rejected the David Mark coalition and declared its leadership as the party’s legitimate NEC.

Obinna Group Challenges Party Leadership

However, the group said it consists of duly elected National Executive Committee members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC. Obinna spoke during a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the faction insisted that the tenure of Ralph Nwosu ended in August 2022. It added that Nwosu faced several court cases after he failed to step down.

Furthermore, the group described Nwosu’s handover of the party structure to the David Mark-led coalition as illegal.

Faction Rejects Mark, Bala Claims

Consequently, the group distanced itself from Senator David Mark and members of the opposition coalition. It also rejected Nafiu Bala, stating he never held the position of National Vice Chairman.

In response, the faction said the David Mark coalition does not belong to ADC and cannot speak for the party.

Furthermore, the group reaffirmed that former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu remains a member of the party.

Interim Leadership Announced

Meanwhile, the faction announced new appointments to run the party’s affairs. It said the arrangement will remain until the party conducts a national convention.

Consequently, the development signals a deepening leadership crisis within the ADC as rival factions battle for control.
