BREAKING: Three-storey building collapses in Lagos

A three-storey building collapsed in the Alakija area of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State on Thursday, leaving several people feared trapped under the rubble.

Panic As Building Crashes Down

The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. and threw the neighbourhood into panic.

According to reports, the building suddenly gave way, sending residents and passers-by rushing to the scene. Many people also fled nearby buildings over fears of further structural failure.

Meanwhile, emergency responders moved into the area as concerned residents gathered around the site.

Casualty Figure Still Unknown

However, authorities had not confirmed the number of casualties as of press time.

Reports indicated that some victims could still be trapped beneath the debris, prompting an urgent rescue operation.

An eyewitness said the collapse happened without warning and disrupted normal activities across the community.

Rescue Operation Underway

Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.

He said emergency teams had already started rescue efforts at the scene.

Consequently, rescue workers continue to search through the rubble as authorities work to determine the number of victims and the cause of the collapse.
