The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has approved a budget of ₦1.07 billion for 2027 to fund Bible translation projects and life-transforming programmes across the country.

The General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of BSN, Samuel Sanusi, said the budget would support the organisation’s mission of making the Bible available and affordable to Nigerians in their preferred languages and formats.

He said the ₦1,070,302,800 budget represented a 14 per cent increase over the ₦943,020,600 approved for 2026, underscoring the society’s commitment to expanding access to the Scriptures and promoting meaningful engagement with God’s Word.

According to him, ₦216.6 million has been earmarked for ongoing Bible translation projects at different stages of completion across the country.

Sanusi said the organisation had allocated ₦54.2 million for the Nigerian Sign Language Bible translation project aimed at serving the deaf community.

He noted that, apart from the Sign Language Bible, it costs at least ₦150 million to complete a Bible translation project in any language within an eight-year period.

The BSN chief executive also disclosed that ₦162.1 million would be spent on the society’s Macedonian Call intervention programme.

He said the initiative focused on distributing Bibles and relief materials, including food items, clothing, bedding and educational packs, to internally displaced persons’ camps and underserved communities nationwide.

Sanusi said the society had already spent ₦102 million in the first quarter of 2026 on Bible translation, Scripture engagement programmes and other initiatives in furtherance of its mission.

“Our deep passion for the spiritual and social transformation of the people that we serve drives our commitment to making the Word of God available and affordable, despite the harsh operating environment,” he said.

He added that the organisation continued to invest heavily in its programmes as part of its contribution to the spiritual growth, development and holistic welfare of Nigerians.

The Bible Society of Nigeria is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian organisation dedicated to translating, publishing and distributing the Bible, while implementing programmes designed to encourage Scripture engagement and transform lives.
