Cleric urges Christians to avoid undue pressure, embrace moderation

Rev. Fr. Chimaobi Okoye has urged Christians to celebrate Christmas with moderation and sober reflection, reminding them that the season is about the birth of Jesus Christ and not personal extravagance.

Okoye made the call during his Christmas sermon at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Archbishop Obiefuna Retreat Centre, Okpuno, in Anambra.

He said that Christmas should not place unnecessary pressure on individuals to engage in activities beyond their financial capacity.

According to him, Christmas celebration is not about showcasing wealth or personal achievements.

“The essence of Christmas goes beyond wearing new clothes or lavish celebrations, but calls for deep reflection on the significance of Christ’s birth.

“I encouraged Christians to emulate the life and teachings of Jesus by making positive impacts in their communities through love, sacrifice and service to humanity,” he said.
