The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos Strategic Command, has bid farewell to the Commaɗer of Narcotic, Chinyerem Eziaghighala, who bowed out of service after 35 years of meritorious service to the nation, Africa, and, by extension, the globe.
It was reported that friends, public office holders, and well-wishers poured encomiums on Eziaghighala, the Deputy Commander, Counseling, Treatment, And Rehabilitation, Lagos Strategic Command during her retirement ceremony on Sunday in Lagos.
During her tenure, the Commander of Narcotics left an indelible mark on the agency, driving efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking.
Her dedication to the agency’s mission earned her respect and admiration from colleagues and stakeholders alike.
Eulogising her, the Commander, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State Strategic Command, NDLEA, Muhammad Tukur said that Eziaghighala made great impacts during her service years.
Tukur representated the Commander, Lagos Strategic Command, NDLEA, Abubakar Wali, who was unavailably absent at the event.
According to him, her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of NDLEA officials as they strive to create a safer and healthier Nigeria.
“Eziaghighala is known for excellence. Her dedication is a source of inspiration. What you are doing is a bitservice to humanity and I urge you to continue even after retirement to save lives,” he said.
Similarly, the Deputy State Commander, Lagos Strategic Command, NDLEA, Oladosu Bashir, reiterated the efforts of Eziaghighala, describing her as a “Counsellor”.
Bashir noted that the she played a pivotal role in the area of treatment, rehabilitation and support with Lagos Strategic Command.
Her Husband and a Priest of Anglican Church, Aguda Surulere Lagos, Ven Dr Josiah Eziaghighala, appreciated the agency for all its support to their family so far.
According to him, drug abuse has become a pandemic which NDLEA alone cannot tackle, but with the collaborative efforts of other authorities and the private facilities.
Highlighting efforts of his wife in keeping to her official duties and that of the family since inception of their marriage 31 years ago, Josiah reiterated committee to continue to support her even beyond her retirement.
In his eulogy, a Past Warden of the Anglican Church, Mr Ben Duru, cited her vital roles in the church in spite of her services in the agency and her family, describing her as a “blessing to humanity.
“You’re truly a mother, and we thank God for your life.
“Now that you are retired, the Church will be glad to have you in full participation; winning souls for Christ,” Duru said.
Responding, the Commander of Narcotics, Eziaghighala expressed overwhelm gratitude to all participants at the event for the outpour of encomium on her, describing retirement as a “sweet thing”.
In conclusion, the retired Commander of Narcotics and Drug Abuse Crusader, Chinyerem Eziaghighala, has indeed achieved greatness, and the testimonies of colleagues, stakeholders, friends, church members and relations about her were loud, standing ovation for a champion, as they pray for her rewarding and prosperous retirement life.
