June 19, 2024 – Under the auspices the Commonwealth Sport Game Changer programme and the commonwealth games Nigeria (CGN), the NOC wishes to inform the general public about the Game Changers Leadership programme.
The event is being organised through Basketball programme for Secondary schools in Mowe area of Ogun State.
According to Tony Nezianya, Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) the programme will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
The Secretary-General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Tunde Poopola, said “the objective of the programme is to provide opportunity to the students in Mowe on the importance of sport and education to youth development.
”It will also promote social interaction among the students which will avail them the opportunity to meet other school students and learn more about the activities carried out by CGN”.
The programme is open to secondary school students from 14 – 17 years olds.
During the programme, resource persons would be invited to talk to the students about career choices as well as equip them with life skills that would aid actualization of their dreams while considering careers in basketball.
Apart from exposure to Basketball, Additional Plus Sports and Education Initiative (APSE) Dance Academy would be performing towards inspiring the participants.
Twelve schools from both from the Public and Private Schools in Mowe, Ogun State are to participate in the programme with 9 students and 1 Game Master each.
They are Rifat Pasha Quranic Memorization School, Graceland School, New Heights International School, Champions International College, Magboro, Mowe, Value Grace School, Pakuro, Flying Colors International School, Fortune Land Academy Redeemers High School, SLEGG Flourish School.
Others are Nesgel High School, Advocate High School Pakuro, and God’s Fabulous Home for Special Needs.
The programme will take place at the Additional Plus Sports and Education Initiative (APSEP) 4, Salvation Road, Pakuro, Mowe, Ogun State. The programme will begin at 10 am.
The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel will declare the programme open.
