A Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has ordered that a 36-year-old farmer, Ezekiel Bishen, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a nine year old girl.

Bishen is charged by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with defilement, contrary to Section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

The NSCDC prosecutor, Marcus Audu, told the court that the matter was referred to the Corps’ office by the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Kafanchan on Oct.17.

Audu said the defendant lured the girl into his house at Zonkwa and forced her to suck his manhood after which he had sexual intercourse with her.

He added that the accused threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone what transpired between them.

The presiding judge, Michael Bawa, however, did not take the defendant’s plea for lack of jurisdiction on the matter.

Bawa directed the prosecutor to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

He adjourned the matter until Nov.22 for further mention.

In related development, a 24-year-old Aderinkola Adeniyi, who allegedly published defamatory information concerning his employer, was on Wednesday docked in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The defendant is charged with defamation and false publication.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. James Okosun told the court that the defendant had committed the offences on Sept. 27, at No. 16, Musoro St., Abule Ijesha, Yaba.

He alleged that the defendant published and displayed defamatory materials about his former employer, Dr. Ibukun Gbadamosi labelling him and his business as a scam and hurling insults at him online.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of  Section 57 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and Section 24 of the Cybercrime(Prohibition Prevention) Act, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs F.F. George, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The magistrate ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation with evidence of tax payment to the state government for three years.

She has adjourned until Nov. 28 for mention.
