Court Remands Man For Allegedly Defiling 9-year-old Daughter

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered that an aluminum fabricator, Peter Udoh, 40, be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his nine-year-old daughter.

The police charged Udoh, and his neighbour, Chi Abellega, 44, who live in Jaiye Oba area, Shasha, Lagos with defilement and sexual molestation.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, did not take the plea of Idoh and Abellega for want of jurisdiction.

Osunsanmi ordered the police to return the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until Aug. 25.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the suspects committed the offence between April to July.

Akeem said that a leader in the community reported the case at the police station.

He also said that the victim, confirmed that she has been molested by her father and his friend.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

In a related development, two clergy on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N750, 000 from a man on false pretences that they were going to secure travel documents to Australia for him.

The defendants are, Caleb Eniola, 60 and Gabriel Shittu, 77, both live in an Ojokooro area of Abule Egba, Lagos.

They are being tried for conspiracy, obtaining by false pretences, fraud and stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offences were committed on March 2021 at 1, Alaagba St., Orile Agege, Lagos.

Akeem said that the defendants obtained N750, 000 from Mr Emmanuel Adeitan and four of his family members, that they were going to obtain travel documents to Australia for them.

The prosecutor added that the defendants failed to secure the documents and did not refund the money.

Akeem said that the defendants has not been picking the complaint’s call since then and all effort to locate them failed.

The offences, according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 287, 312, 323 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi granted the defendants to bail of N300, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi, adjourned the case until Sept. 28 for mention.
