COWLSO honours LWC Managing Director with Social Impact Award

Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, at the COWLSO 25th Annual conference, held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, today, Thursday, 30th October 2025

The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) has honoured the Lagos Water Corporation, Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani (MTT) received the Social Impact Award for his commitment towards service delivery to the people of Lagos State.

COWLSO presented the prestigious award to Engr. Tijani today, 30th October 2025, during the end of the 3-day event held at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos., from Tuesday, October 28, to Thursday, October 2025.

The 25th annual conference featured the theme, “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation.”

In his speech, Engr. Tijani stated, “Today, I was deeply honoured to receive the Social Impact Award from the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) as part of the celebration of COWLSO’s 25th Anniversary Conference in recognition of the work we are doing at the Lagos Water Corporation”.

He continued, “This award is not just a personal honour; it is a reflection of the collective effort of an incredible team that continues to ensure safe, sustainable, and inclusive access to water for every Lagosian”.

“It was also a privilege to collaborate with COWLSO on the rehabilitation of the Tajudeen Olusi Rehabilitation Centre for Girls, Ajah, where we installed a water treatment plant and storage system”. That project remains a strong reminder of how access to clean water can directly advance girls’ empowerment and dignity. “

MD was profoundly grateful to Her Excellency, the First Lady of Lagos State and Chairperson of COWLSO, for the recognition and for her continued leadership in driving social impact and to Mr. Governor, whose vision for a Greater Lagos continues to inspire our work.

Adding that at the Lagos Water Corporation, we remain committed to serving with innovation, inclusion, and integrity, building systems that create lasting impact for the people of Lagos, he concluded.

COWLSO is a community-based gender organisation working to complement the efforts of the Lagos State Government to promote child healthcare, empower women to discover their hidden treasures, and protect our environment.

Founded in 1974 by the late Mrs. Obafunmilayo Johnson, wife of the first Military Administrator of Lagos State. It was revitalized in 2000 by Distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the then First Lady of Lagos State, after years of inactivity.
