Angry Nigerian Labour union protesters on Wednesday, pulled down the first gates of the National Assembly in Abuja to force their way into the premises.
The protesters occupied the complex of the Nigerian National Assembly to protest against the hardship inflicted on Nigerians as a result of the removal of petroleum subsidy.

The protesters led by the leaders of the Organised Labour, Joe Ajaero of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Festus Osifo of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) asked security operatives stationed at the legislative building to open the gates to allow them to the National Assembly.

The angry workers who marched from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja to the National Assembly complex prevented the senators from continuing with the screening of the ministerial nominees.

The protesters complained that they can no longer feed their families, transport themselves to their various workplaces and that the rate of poverty in the country is getting worse.

Following the failure of the security officials to adhere, the angry protesters pulled down the gates and thronged into the assembly complex to vent their anger.

In the video, the protesters could be seen pushing the gate back and forth before pulling down the gate.

Shadanpama reports that the organised labour unions has started nationwide protest following the economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government.
