
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has urged Muslim faithful to use the spiritual essence of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for enduring peace, national unity and accelerated development in the country.
Soludo made the call in his goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah in Anambra and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Awka by Mr Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the governor.
The governor described the Sallah celebration as a festival of profound significance that reminds humanity of the virtues of obedience, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to divine will and the common good.
He also emphasised the need for citizens to share with one another, extend acts of charity and promote mutual tolerance and peaceful coexistence irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
Soludo reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents of the state and creating an environment where citizens could celebrate peacefully during the festive season and beyond.
He wished Muslims a happy celebration and prayed that the blessings of the season would bring peace, bliss and prosperity to every home.
Also speaking, the wife of the governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
She said the festival symbolised faith, compassion, tolerance and kindness, urging Nigerians to continue to uphold the values in the interest of a more united and peaceful society.
Mrs Soludo also prayed that the holy season would bring abundant blessings to Muslim families in Anambra State and across the country.
