Sir Innocent Nwachukwu

Lagos. Feb.15, 2023: Ten days to the general elections, Sir Innocent Nwachukwu, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the upcoming Abia House of Assembly election, has advised against rancour, brickbat and politics of calumny among some members of  his party and the PDP in Ndume ward.

The YPP hopeful for the Umuahia East State Constituency, who gave the advice in an address titled: “Building Peace is Challenging, Yet Necessary”, described such a trend as unnecessary.

According to him, politics should be about values and vision rather than violence and viciousness.

He told his constituents that peace included not just the absence of direct violence and war, but the presence of social structures and cultures that allow all individuals an opportunity to participate in politics,” Nwachukwu, also known as “Onwa” (the Llight) by his supporters, said.

He said: “I wish to categorically state that elections are never won by threats in the democratic setting but by cohesion among people who share the same ideology for good governance.

“We must allow peace as it is the path we take for bringing growth and prosperity to our society.

“If we do not have peace and harmony, achieving political strength, economic stability and cultural growth will be impossible.

“Peace is very important especially now that Ndume ward has been allotted exclusive right to represent the good people of Umuahia East State Constituency at  the state house of Assembly 2023.

“We must shun violent politics and seek to build an atmosphere of peace and cooperation among us, which to me, is the needed ingredients for any meaningful development or progress to take place in this our society,” the YPP candidate said.

Nwachukwu stressed that Ndume Otuka must practice peace at all levels, be it for party A or B, stressing that “we all are brothers. we are the same Otuka”.

He added that politics should not be a win or die affair, adding that all candidates from the various political parties should be able to congratulate any one who emerged  the winner of the 2023 House of Assembly election.

“I, therefore, sue for peace on all parties and enjoin those on the habit of fomenting trouble no matter the party you belong to  desist forthwith for the interest and good of Ndume Otuka people,” the YPP candidate said.
