The former minister of humanitarian affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq has honored the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following the ongoing investigation of an alleged N37 billion fraud.

Farouq was minister from 2019 to 2023 in the administration of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

She announced her arrival at the anti-graft office via her X handle.

On January 4, the EFCC had earlier asked the ex-minister to turn herself in without further delay, after she had initially failed to honor the agency’s invitation due to some health challenges.

Farouq stated during her visit that she is still honored to have served the country as a minister and that she is prepared to defend the policies and initiatives she implemented while serving in that capacity.

“I have, at my behest, arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC to honor the invitation by the anti-graft agency to offer clarifications in respect of some issues that the commission is investigating,” she said

“I remain proud to have served my country as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with every sense of responsibility and will defend my actions, stewardship and programmes during my tenure whenever I am called upon to do so.”
