Firm Collaborates Petroleum Products Transporters On Trucks Conversion

Gas Analytics and Solutions Ltd. will collaborate with the Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products (ADITOP) in converting trucks from using diesel to natural gas.

Its Managing Director, Mr Briam Amom, made the disclosure at a meeting with ADITOP members on Wednesday in Kano.

Amom said the conversion would assist to reduce the cost of transporting petroleum products to different parts of the country.

According to him, natural gas is cleaner and cheaper compared to diesel and is being produced 100 per cent in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the measure would further reduce the high rate of bridging claims that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) pay to transporters.

The managing director noted that the conversion would cost between N6 and N10 million per truck.

The ADITOP President, Alhaji Lawal Muhammad-Danzaki, said that was a welcomed development.

He directed their consultant to liaise with the firm with a view to formalising agreements on the matter.

On his part, the ADITOP Consultant, Dr Maurice Ibe, said that the association would discuss extensively on the matter after which, the duo would sign an assignment.

Ibe also said that the association would continue to call on NMDPRA to settle members bridging claims.

He said that would enable them to transport petroleum products to different parts of the country efficiently.
