Accra, March 23, 2024: Chief Kolos Okechukwu Ijioma, a former Secretary of Enyimba FC of Aba, says the NFF Youth League will produce abundant football talents for Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation held its inaugural Youth League involving U-17 players of all professional football clubs in Nigeria with Rivers United FC youth team winning the maiden edition over Katsina United early in March this year.

Ijioma said in Accra on Saturday that the youth league is a step in the right direction.

“Be rest assured that the youth league will produce abundant football talents for the country. Nigeria is blessed with fine talents and I believe the league will expose them,’’ he said.

The former Enyimba secretary commended the NFF for introducing the league and called for its sustenance because it would serve as a pool/reservoir for future national and international engagements.

On Enyimba, Ijioma said the club is doing well in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League season.

“Enyimba is presently third on the league table. But, they can still win the league because anything can happen in the remaining games. I urge them to remain focused and dedicated. It is possible that they can win the league.

Ijioma said that Enyimba supporters and fans were praying for the team to win the league and repeat the feat achieved in 2003 and 2004 football seasons.

“Enyimba can win the CAF Champions league as they did in 2003 and 2004.

”They can do it again. I appeal to the Abia State Government to continue sponsoring the team. They will make the state proud,’’ he said.
