The IYKON Global Foundation for Child, Youth Care and Human Rights Defence will on Monday and Tuesday unveil evidence-based findings on the achievements of President Bola Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru.
The foundation’s Founder and President, Ephraim Nwonu, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abakaliki, saying the assessment would focus on specific issues.
Nwonu said Ebonyi was selected as the pilot state for the South-East geopolitical zone after an extensive assessment of government projects, policies, appointments and other interventions.
He said the findings would be presented at a two-day workshop scheduled for September 7 and 8 in Abakaliki.
According to him, the exercise would provide citizens with verifiable information to help them make informed decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The findings will provide citizens with verifiable information for informed decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
Nwonu said the foundation had carried out advocacy, humanitarian and governance-related interventions since its establishment in 2009.
He added that it collaborates with institutions including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The foundation’s president said the organisation remained non-partisan but had a responsibility to promote good governance at all levels and positively impact citizens.
Nwonu said the foundation had spent considerable time gathering first-hand information across Ebonyi’s 13 Local Government Areas on government projects and programmes.
He said the foundation would also assess the Federal Government’s interventions in the South-East, including infrastructure projects and appointments.
“This exercise is not a partisan campaign but an attempt to place available evidence before citizens,” Nwonu said.
He said the foundation had facts and figures that would help dispel misinformation and misconceptions about the performance of the Tinubu and Nwifuru administrations.
Nwonu acknowledged the difficulties linked to some of Tinubu’s economic reforms but said government interventions, particularly in agriculture, should be assessed alongside the challenges.
“The President has encouraged youths, for instance, to embrace agriculture by providing lots of incentives in the sector,” he said.
He added that the workshop would bring together experts and resource persons to examine different thematic areas of governance and development.
