The Forum of Political Parties in Lagos State (FPP), on Thursday, felicitated Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, on their re-election in Saturday’s governorship election.

FPP is an umbrella body of 65 registered and deregistered political parties in Lagos State.

Chief Kolawole Ajayi, Chairman of the forum and two-time Chairman of the Lagos State Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), in a statement issued in Lagos, said Sanwo-Olu’s victory was a testament to his sterling performance and achievements in office.

“Members of the Forum of Political Parties in Lagos State (FPP) want to use this medium to officially congratulate Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Kadiri Hamzat on their well-deserved victory.

“It is a testament to the fact that they have done well and Lagos residents are glad to unanimously vote and re-elect them for another term of four years.

“The choice of the people of Lagos State on who to govern them has been demonstrated through their votes.

“Indeed, Lagos residents from all divides were unanimous in speaking with a loud voice on their choice of Gov. Sanwo-Olu to serve another term.

“This also shows that one good term deserves another,” Ajayi said.

The chairman, who urged Sanwo-Olu to prioritise welfare and comfort of the masses, said the FPP leadership would not hesitate to offer counsel and constructively criticise the governor in policies and programmes.

He advised the governor to serve with the fear of God and involve other stakeholders.

According to him, running a more inclusive government will go a long way to get dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

Ajayi added: “One of the leading roles of political parties is to checkmate political governance, and we will do that effectively in the second term of the governor.

“Over the years, FPP has been doing that; ensuring that Lagos State and Nigerians get the best in leadership by blazing the trail in electing the right political leadership across board.

“As major stakeholders in the democratic governance in Lagos, we appeal for recognition and involvement of the group in the governance of the state.

“We shall continue to support the APC government both at the state and national levels.”

He said the group was looking forward to having a harmonious working relationship with the APC leadership and the government of APC in the state.

The forum adopted the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu in the build up to the presidential election on Feb. 25 and Sanwo-Olu’s re-election bid in the build up to governorship election on March 18.
