Ojo Isaac Emerges President as Youths Elect New Executive
The Youth Wing of Gowon Estate CDA North has elected a new leadership following a peaceful and well-attended election held on September 26, 2026.
The election, which commenced at 10:00 a.m., provided eligible youths with the opportunity to participate in the democratic process and elect representatives to lead the Youth Wing. The electoral committee outlined the voting procedures and guidelines before the exercise commenced.
At the conclusion of voting and the subsequent counting of ballots, Ojo Isaac emerged as President with 349 votes, defeating Ezealuka Abraham Chekube, who polled 154 votes. Two votes were recorded as void, bringing the total votes cast for the presidential election to 505.
For the position of Vice President, Omoviro Oghale emerged victorious with 327 votes, while Nwosu Chukwuebuka Richard (OKIGBO) secured 170 votes. Eleven votes were recorded as void, with 508 votes cast in total.
In the Public Relations Officer (PRO) race, Ezekiel emerged with 345 votes, defeating Atedoyin, who received 158 votes. The election recorded a total of 503 votes and 5 voided votes for the position.
For Secretary, Sarah secured 170 votes, while Okporka Peter polled 327 votes, making Okporka the elected Secretary.
The newly elected officers expressed appreciation to the electorate for their confidence and participation, while pledging to work collectively in the interest of the youth and the wider Gowon Estate CDA North community.
The election concluded at 4:00 p.m. and was followed by congratulations from members of the community to the newly elected leadership.
The exercise marks the beginning of a new administration for the Gowon Estate CDA North Youth Wing, with residents and youths looking forward to the new leadership’s plans and programmes for the community.
In a message to the CDA, Osariekemwen, on behalf of the newly elected Youth Wing Executives, expressed his team’s appreciation to the CDA body, the CDA executives, and the CDA Electoral Committee for allowing the youths to participate in the growth and development of Gowon North in the capacity of the Youth Wing.
“We also appreciate them for their dedication, commitment, and professionalism in the Elections held yesterday for the Youth Wing.
“As they highlighted yesterday, in the game between brothers and sisters, there are no losers. Together we will work for the betterment of our Gowon North community
“Leadership is a great responsibility that comes with a lot of challenges, and navigating those challenges is where we need unity, love, and support for the newly elected youth executives.
“This is also to reiterate our commitment to work hand in hand with our CDA, Councillor, supervisor, and our Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development, for the betterment of Gowon North.
“We will gladly appreciate your support, advice, and mentorship,” Osariekemwen said.
Similarly, Hon. Adejoro John IBIJEMILUSI, Councillor, Gowon Estate Ward B & Majority Leader, Mosan Okunola LCDA, in his message, titled: “No Victor, No Vanquished, A Victory for Gowon Estate North,’’ congratulated all contestants who stepped forward to serve.
The councillor noted that their dedication and passion for the community are truly commendable.
“Today, we celebrate no winners and no losers, only a shared victory for Gowon Estate. Politics is now behind us, and the real work begins.
“It is time for proper governance, collaboration, and progress. Let us unite to build a safer, cleaner, and more prosperous community for everyone,’’ he said.
