How boxing can help change fortunes of youths in Alimosho

A National Fly Weight Champion, Akinade Akeem, has said that the discipline of boxing has the potential to change the fortunes of youths in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos.

Akeem disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.

Akeem, who is also the founder of ‘Youf8p ppitbox’ Academy said that through the academy, he plans to begin series of training and boxing competition among youths with the aim of empowering them with boxing skills they could use to compete in any boxing competition.

Tagged #Youfitbox, Akeem said that the goal of the academy is to reduce crime and violence in the society by making sure that youths who have nothing doing, instead of taking to crime, drugs and criminality, would be trained to channel their energy positively.

“Our mission is to inculcate discipline and to promote sporting activities among the youths that would help them discover there talent.

” Youfitbox is encouraging the youth to drop weapons and pick boxing gloves, and to channel their energy to boxing to make ends meet,” Akeem said.

He noted that there were many unemployed youths in many local communities, whose enegies if not chaanelled in the right direction, could be used negatively.

Newsmen reports that Akeem started his boxing career in Lagos in March 2003.

He had represented Lagos State in EKO 2012 in the National Sports Festival.

Akeem, who also had represented Rivers State in the just concluded National Sports Festival in Delta State, had participated in many national championships.
