The Obidient Movement has alleged that former governors of Abia State, led by Senator representing Abia North at the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu, are plotting to destabilise the state and remove  Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 election.

The group stated this in a press conference on Wednesday through the Abia State spokesperson, Chibuzor Obiesili among other members.

They alleged that the former Abia leaders are desperate in their bid to deliver the state to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It noted that Otti was elected by the Abia people and has been performing creditably in office.

The group, however, described senator Kalu’s statement that Governor Otti will not be re-elected for a second term as a threat and an open fight against the people of Abia.

“It has come to the public knowledge that there was a meeting of former governors, alongside their former commissioners and engineered by the Senator Kalu.

“In that meeting they stated their resolution to remove Dr Alex Otti in the 2027 general election and win Abia State for the APC and Tinubu respectively.”

The group therefore called on Governor Otti to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.

“We also want to use this opportunity to call on you – to join ADC where our leader, Mr. Peter Obi, is and every other well-meaning Nigerian politician is, for more united bloc votes which will not be divided.”
