The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

The victims were freed alive following a late-night tactical operation by security operatives around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

According to police sources, the breakthrough followed sustained intelligence-led efforts and intense operational pressure on the criminal gang.

During the rescue operation, police operatives engaged the abductors in a fierce gun duel, killing two suspected kidnappers at the scene. Operatives also recovered two firearms from the gang during the encounter.

Mrs. John-Paul and her sons were abducted on Wednesday morning, June 3, 2026, in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area while she was driving them to school in her vehicle.
