The Lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Jude Idimogu, has empowered some members of the Constituency with Point of Sale(POS) machine.
Idimogu told the newsmen on the sidelines of the event that the gesture was geared towards the economic emancipation of members of his Constituency.
According to him, the empowerment had been a process he started some months ago and it’s a continuous thing.
“Today they are giving out 200 machines to my constituents and other Lagosians.
“The idea is, as an Honourable member who have my constituents who are applicant, who are Lagosians and Nigerians, we have to empower them economically
” I am.using my position to appeal to even other banks who can also assist to ensure that these people put food on the table for thier families,” Idimogu said.
He expressed appreciation to the bank for its benevolence, goodwill and support.
Idimogu said that the economy of every country is measured by the income of individuals that live there.
He added that If the individuals were not empowered, the economy is dying but when they are empowered, things are easier.
“These machines are given in batches. After this 200, more will be coming in batches. They are giving out about 2,000 machines.
“The bank is opening account to most of the people that have applied, they will configure the machine, before they can give out to the applicants.
“It’s a three way thing, it’s give and take. The operator is benefitting, the customer is benefiting and the bank is also benefiting,” Idimogu said.
He said that some beneficiaries of the POS machine are outside his Constituency.
Some beneficiaries of the POS machine expressed gratitude to Idimogu for the kind gesture.
Helen Etuk, an hair dresser told NAN that many of her customers have been requesting for POS machine for ease of payment.
‘Now I can meet my customers needs.
Also, Mr Nicholas white, a businessman, expressed gratitude to Idimogu for the good work he is doing in the Constituency.
White said that Idimogu has shown that he cared for his constituents by his kind gestures.
Newsmen reports that the empowerment is an initiative of Idimogu, and powered by a commercial bank.
