Enugu, Nigeria – Igbo-Etiti town in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu State was thrown into celebration following the emergence Dr. Eric Odo as the Chairman-elect of the council.

Odo, a trained Surgeon, hails from Nkporogwu in Ukehe, Igbo Etiti LGA of Enugu State.

At a news conference on Monday in Enugu, Odo expressed gratitude for the kind of love and acceptance his people showered on him during his campaign.

Odo is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and polled more than 95% of the total votes cast.

Before his election, Odo was the Chairman, Enugu State Hospital Management Board, who had, within three months in office, transformed the institution to a greater height.

He explained that during his campaign, he promised his people equal distribution of infrastructure and that he would ensure transparency and accountability during his tenure.

The medical practitioner, however, said that his administration would mostly benefit the down trodden in the area.

The people described Odo’s emergence as a great blessing and victory well deserved and capable of transforming the council area.

Reacting, an indigene of the Council area, Mr John Ugwueme, expressed optimism that the chairman-elect would enthrone sanity through strict observance of equity, fairness and justice among the various communities in the allocation of amenities.

Ugwueme expressed the hope that Odo would attract meaningful developmental projects to Igbo-Etiti LGA, adding the measure would reposition the local government to be among the best in Enugu State.

He congratulated the people of Igbo-Etiti for making the right choice in the election.

Another indigene of the LGA, Mrs Chioma Ugwu, said she was excited with the victory of Odo, who, according to her, was qualified to lead the Council area to the next level.

She noted that Odo was coming at a time when the Council needed a person with capacity and competence to turn things around for the people.
